Iesha Hoffman

Iesha Hoffman is a theatrical artist with nearly twenty years of experience as an actress, director, playwright, make-up artist and teacher. A New Jersey native, Iesha graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelors in Theater Arts. She worked on both sides of the stage and appeared in productions such as Once On This Island, Lysistrata, and The Good Person of Szechwan. She also toured with the children’s theater company, The Shoestring Players. After graduating from college, Iesha moved to New York City. She worked as a professional make-up artist for stage and print and studied with one of New York City’s most sought after makeup artists, Pamela Taylor.

Eventually, Iesha moved from New York City to Charlotte with her husband. She continued stay involved with her art, working as a make-up artist as well as offering acting lessons at local talent agencies and for private instruction. She then performed at Theater Charlotte in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, directed by Steve Umberger. It was that performance that brought her to the attention of John Hartness, who practically stalked her to perform in Off-Tryon Theater Company’s production of Boy Gets Girl. Unfortunately in 2003, she suffered a set-back to her theater career with a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. It was not long before she was back on her feet and performing around Charlotte in productions such as Our Country’s Good, Playing With Fire, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Hamlet, and The Heidi Chronicles. She was most recently nominated by the Metrolina Theatre Association for Outstanding Actress in a Drama for her role as the Duchess of York in Shakespeare Carolina’s production of Richard III.

Iesha has been a “closet writer” for years with short stories, poetry, and incomplete film scripts scattered around her home. In 2006, Iesha set out to challenge herself and ended up with her first novel, Reflections, the first in a planned series called The Cantique Chronicles. Her extensive performance experience provided Iesha with a perfect playground for creating new plays, so she decided on whim to submit a piece for The Fairy Tale Chronicles. The success of her first piece, Wanted: Frogs, inspired Iesha to continue working on other scripts. Presently, she is working on a comedy (and semi-autobiographical) screenplay about a young woman trying to make it as an artist while working in her corporate day-job. She is also starting an adaption of Mary Shelly’s classic work, Frankenstein.

Iesha is the mother of two beautiful children. She is currently a Masters candidate at Pfeiffer University. She is available for writing jobs and as an acting coach for groups and individuals.
